The Shore

"A couple from a less dramatic moment"?! I don't think you had a less dramatic moment - I really like the intense way you've brought these out, Ray. They're fun, interesting and pack a wallop!

Thanks for including that street scene of the houses, they're very pretty and give me a flavor for the town where I have never been. Maybe I'll get down there after Labor Day and the rates at the B&Bs fall a bit. If I had to choose just one, I'd choose the fisherwoman with boy in red shirt as my favorite.:drinks: (I hope the heavens don't open on us when we're down on the North Carolina shores!)

Ray,
I have and still enjoy your shooting and post work. You are a man after my own heart. However here are things that some might say are wrong with your photos.

Too much contrast
Too many drop outs and over exposed areas
Colors are too harsh
Lighting is too harsh
Too Dark
Way too grainy

Should I go on...

All these concerns of others mean squat to me. Those things listed above are what makes you...you, and I love it. Love your work and always I seem
satisfied after looking at the shots youve just taken...Well done bro.
Cheers,
Pete

I can think of no greater compliment Pete. I admire people who produce technically perfect photographs and I know that for some types of photography, its important to do so. But to me, a literal interpretation of reality is generally less interesting than a personal interpretation of the boundary between reality and imagination and that's pretty much all I seem to know how to do. I've posted exactly one "clean" photo here or anywhere else in recent memory (the first photo in this thread - just to get the obligatory postcard out of the way and show off the new camera a little bit: https://www.photographerslounge.org/f22/seattle-water-shots-3820/). I'm glad you enjoy them!

And, BTW, I remember a while back when you first started posting some super high-contrast shots from your cell phone that were just mind-blowingly good images. If there was ever confirmation that its not about the camera or the mythical IQ, that was it for me!
