Camped at Beacon Rock State Park this weekend, and trains go by about every half hour. If you listen carefully, you can hear it with enough time to get about 60 seconds' head start. That gave me time to sprint to the dock, and get positioned.

Just had the privilege of spending a week in Tasiilaq, a small town on the east coast of Greenland. And as it is wintertime, I had to use the sparse daylight for capturing some images. Since the landscape is heavily snow covered, I'd thought to use B/W to stress the beautiful contrasty landscapes and scenes.
All pictures taken with the Fuji X-Pro2 and 18-55/2.8-4 IOS lens.

I'm spending a week in the Bay Area. After a brutal winter (still going strong) in the Philly area, a bit of sunshine and warmth is what the doctor ordered. I've got the XT1 with the 14, 18, 23, and I grabbed a 55-200 at the last minute so I could get some reach without having to bring m43 gear also. Today, I shot mostly with the 14, a bit with the 23, and a tiny bit with the 55-200. I'm going to have to lean on the 23 some more going forward. That lens has a bit of that magical quality that some lenses just have - I started discovering it while processing some of these this afternoon...

Here are a few from the first day - I'll try to post a few each day, assuming I get a few each day. The forecast called for rain most of today. Instead it was sunny and mid-60s - almost too hot for a guy who was walking his dog in single digits yesterday before heading to the airport! My daughter is here for the first few days and today we just walked around playing tourist and hit some of the key tourist spots...

    Hello forum users.

We've had a pretty bad infestation of spambots that started a few weeks back (maybe longer) and it's taken our entire team of moderators an enormous number of man hours (and woman hours.....thanks BB!) to do our best to rid the site of these vermin. In the heat of the battle we inadvertently deleted a couple legitimate users. We have restored their access to the site.

After a marathon 3 day banning session where we eliminated hundreds of "users", we also stumbled upon a new tactic of these bots where they use the "albums" feature of the website not for sharing photos, but for creating massive spam text blocks. We're not sure whether this impacts site performance, but these particular "users" can really be insidious and time consuming to eradicate. Even after they are banned, all their regular forum posts disappear, but the "albums" remain forever until they are individually deleted one at a time. Here's an example of one spambot "user" that was banned......check out all the "albums" they created..... We've left them there to show you what we've been up against. Now imagine that times a couple hundred and they can't be deleted in bulk.

These moderator jobs are generally pretty cushy. We sit on high thrones made of the softest leather. We are fed grapes (peeled first, of course.....the skins offend our sensitive palates) and offered cigars that are hand-rolled by angels. But this recent bit has been overwhelming and made the moderator job miserable and time consuming (even one of those adjectives would be too much for me). We continue to ban new users as we discover them, but the album filling aspect of these users needs to be shut down. Unfortunately, the only way we can do this is possibly shutting down that feature altogether. We are looking into the possibility of continuing to offer the albums to users with more than 10 posts. If it's possible, we'll do that. In the meantime, if you use the albums feature, make sure you have at least 10 posts so that if or when the switch is thrown there will be no disruptions to worry about.

I have had my X100 for over a year now and I am still excited when I see the results this camera is capable of, the images have a certain smoothness about them rather than a gritty look but they are unique to this camera and look wonderful to me.

I have to admit to being interested in the X100s but will have to wait until the end of 2013 before I can even consider one - in the meantime, I will continue to use and enjoy my current machine!

The move to Hood River Oregon is complete.

We moved about 3 weeks ago, I flew home for 2 weeks to finish the old job, and now I’ve started the new one. It’s incredible here. Yesterday (Sunday) we relaxed, took a bike ride up onto the Old Columbia Highway, a 100-year old highway that was too narrow to accept newer larger cars, and eventually was closed down to car traffic. In recent years it’s been opened to bikes and walking, so of course we had to see it.

Here are some shots I took on my first real day of shooting here. Little editing if any… no time.

Town is built up the side of the gorge, facing north at Washington State across the Columbia River.

When you see the twin tunnels, you quickly realize why they had to stop allowing modern cars. SO narrow and dangerous! But perfect for bikes. Their loss…

Stopped for a picnic, complete with some of the incredibly good cider they make around here. Whoa man.

Last week I was in Jackson, Wyoming for 5 days of vacation of shooting in the Grand Tetons and environs as the parks were open this year.

    Some first pics...

First light on the first morning, but I was still too late to be in position where I really wanted to be, so these were literally taken from the side of the highway. Images were Fuji X-T1 and the Fuji 18-55, 14mm and 23mm primes.

This is where I wanted to be that morning, the Snake River Overlook...

My favorite shots from that first morning shoot:

This shot from taken from the side of Hwy 191 on the way to Moran Junction.

A shot of the Tetons from Cunningham Cabin Historic Site

Snake River near Moran Junction...applied a Replichrome II Fujifilm Astia preset to this image.

Sunset over the Tetons Monday night...there were elk about. Actually dialed back the red sky in these it was so intense.

    Jenny Lake that and white.

Got up way early last Tuesday morning to watch the sun come up over Jenny Lake, it was quite still so I got a good reflection.

    Alpenglow on the Tetons...

    X-T2 and Fuji 23 f/2

We had quite a lot of snow on Saturday, but got a enough break in the snowfall to get some shooting in...these are X-T2 & Acros Y (SOOC from camera except for setting black point and white point)
