Fuji Fujifilm Finepix X100 - Pricing, Availability and general OMG

I feel like a little kid about to have a tantrum...beating my fists on my highchair's table. Now I will go look at your link!:D

P.S. Wonderful, my fires are stoked even more! Thanks so much for keeping your first thread updated, chylld!:D

Andy, are you sure you aren't getting a little bit excited? Perhaps all GAS tends to be viral in nature?:D chylld did update his first post with this video the other day. No problem, though, Andy - I love your enthusiasm!

The more links to that video the better - seems you can only view it from a link (and not from search)

Interesting news regarding availability - shops in Australia are now sold out for at least 2.5 shipments. Which means late April delivery if you order now...

Don't see the picture getting any better once the reviews come out! Oh the price of procrastination...

Ain't that the truth? I've got several orders/pre-orders pending. Eventually I know I'll get my hot little hands on one. Perhaps I will receive one as an early birthday present if it arrives, for me, in late March or early April. I came into this world on 4/28, year undisclosed - for now.;)

Have you checked out that close up on Mio Cade's Flickr stream: Fujifilm FinePix X100's macro test | Flickr - Photo Sharing! I'd say that is another great sign. He has a more recent photograph that is very different but quite touching, emotionally speaking.

I am getting excited but only because you lot are :D It's contagious!

Ya know Andy,
I'm kinda with you on this. I am sooo used to using a screen that it has become my preferred way to work. There's a very discreet method of working with a screen.
Of course the X100 has a screen also. But it's not designed that way for it's main way of seeing.
The Nex 5 satisfies my very nicely.
The X100 has to fight for 1st position.

I'll be sitting ringside when ours arrive Don.

In the meantime we shall continue to live vicariously through various links and leaks...and soon Jon's (AKA chylld) experiences!

I have received my NEX5 and am just waiting for the battery to charge so i can update the firmware. Sadly i have no lens adapters or AF lens here yet :( Adapters should be with my tomorrow ( I was hoping they would be here today..but no!) and the 16mm i have bought will be here in a day or two.

It's raining outside so no hurry!!

So now i have the NEX5, GF-1 and my baby, the E-PL2 i think i can safely say i have enough cameras!! :D

You need at least one real serious COMPACT. You know, like the name of this forum! Like an S95 or LX5 or the new Oly. Something that's really a small carry even with a range of focal lengths available...

No, Andy, I think you need at least one more...

BTW, I'm with you on this Fuji. Its not for me in more ways than I can count, but the enthusiasm is so contagious and the camera just looks soooooo cool in the video(s), that I can see myself wanting one.... And yet I know that when I have taken out the gf1 or ep2 with only the 17mm lens onboard, I'd eventually get frustrated with just the one focal length, knowing there were more available and sometimes better options for some shots. I was very happy with it while shooting on the street, but for anything else, I'd miss my other lenses. That said, I've had any number of fixed lens, fixed length point and shoots and I was never unhappy with those. In a sense it just frees you up to take photographs and not think about it. Which I think the Fuji would also excel at.

There's definitely an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other with this camera. But I'm not sure which one is the angel and which is the devil...
