For this week's challenge of "Looking Up", I drove an hour away to a climbing site for locals called the Stawamus Chief, a 700 meter granite cliff. I was unable to get to the base for a shot because there was some fairly steep climbing that I was unprepared for.

Here are some shots from the day.

A couple of the Chief. The first is a few miles away and the second is a few hundred yards.

Into the forest and the boulder climbing that I wasn't ready for

Wow, Kevin - first of all, I'm so impressed that The Weekly Challenge has gotten you off your duff an into the wilds!:D And really, thank you so much for these - The Chief is very imposing and black and white was an excellent decision. Beautiful forest and wildflowers. Love the moss covered boulders and rocks, however that Chief really impressive.

Yes Azpete's challenge was inspiring! I quite enjoyed the surprising climb through the forest. I was the only one in there and the unusual presence of the boulders made it feel otherworldly. Definitely out of the norm for an accountant :)

You know I was just kidding with you about getting up off your duff, Kevin, because I know from your photos that you're not wedded to your desk. From my own photos, you could think the only people I see are my immediate family which includes our pets.:D

Being there alone must have been cool, for sure.

No worries BB - my duff was getting a tad inactive. With hindsight it wasn't too bright of me to be scrambling around with camera gear amongst the boulders. I had a similar experience to grebeman's friend who stepped in a hole .. fortunately for me I didn't break any bones or camera gear.

It was about that time that I said maybe I should turn around :)

True, I suppose walking in the deep forest alone...without the proper gear isn't always the smartest, sometimes. I'm so glad you didn't hurt yourself like Barrie's poor friend!
