Panasonic Panasonic DMC-LX5 Review

For speed the LX5 wins hands down. I've tried a few action shots with both and the TL500/EX1 constantly misses the shot. The LX5 is also much faster in raw shot to shot times. Heck if they ever firmware fix the color issue I'll quite likely jump ship to the LX5.

Side note: The NR can not be turned down on the TL500 but it still seems to retain more detail all the way up to 3200 than the LX5 with NR set to the lowest -2. I've taken side by side shots in a room lit by (1) 25watt bulb and I can read text on my subjects with the TL500 and it's just mush on the LX5 (with NR = -2).

Thats good to know. If the TL500 is as fast as my E-P1, I think my girlfriend would be happy. She uses it from time to time when I have it out, and she comments on how much faster it is than her old canon A560. I'm also glad to hear about the NR.

On a side note, I'm sorta dissapointed. While dpreview does have a review out of the TL500, they have yet to write one for the lx5 or the s95. While I don't per-se just go by their recommendations, I can compare images and read what they say about handling and response times.

I do thank the members here who have posted about these cameras and their thoughts and opinions.

Hello

I couldnt find any reference, but I would like to know if the LX% has the electronic horizon, like hte GX200 or P7000

Thanks

Don, remind me - we haven't found anyway to keep the focus box really small after we turn off the camera and then turn it on again, have we? Besides setting up a custom setting?
