Ricoh Shooter's Unabridged thoughts and feelings about the GXR

Fri, Sat & Sun I am doing a shoot for the National Historic Society. We will be at Harper's Ferry, Antietam & Gettsburg. The GXR will get a good workout.
I have 100% confidence in a successful shoot.
I might even try the S10 unit...argh...gasp.. The horror of a zoom.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with the GXR Street!

I've been doing test at night at 3200+ out to 6400. Noise at 3200 is under control. 6400 & 12800 are ok with high contrast B&W. Color is never an issue for me so the way the camera records at high ISO is fine by me.

What, oh sorry.... Use the exposure slider in LR to get higher ISO.
Images to follow but not yet. I need to find my recipie in LR first.

You'll have to do it in your head but the manual gives the equivalent numbers in feet on page 68. Just remember (approximations): 1.5m = 5'
3m = 10' and 5m = 15'. These are wags to help the zone/snap focus user.

Yeah, I saw that. Actually I' good at conversions.
I come from a small colony that uses feet. We're a backward nation. I just thought that feet would be included. Maybe after our numbers grow we can get Ricoh to recognize us.
We got atleast a couple hundred thousand people here in the US...
In time I hope..

I like the second the best out of the two Don. Tried my hand today at the airport in close quarters:

Thank ya kindly. I'm just goofin' around trying it out.
Duane, close is close. Is that the 28?

Jason, did you order yet? Just wondering.
Christina, your always so attentive, itts a joy to have you here.
Don

Duane, I've been testing the S10 unit. Its great from 400 down, useable at 800 for B&W and a little ugly above 800.
It's only 10 MP so it's similar to the GX200.
Has anyone found profiles for LR?

The 28 & 50 are killer lenses. I think the S10 I'll use for parties and such maybe with flash.
Great stuff this is....

Hey Don I did find a use for the EVF, since the GXR does not have a flip LCD I used the EVF the other day when almost setting the camera on the ground to shoot some shots through the high grass along some water. By angling the viewer straight up I didn't have to lay on the ground.

Love the second shot Don. Great juxtaposition and commentary.

I'm sure I'd love the GXR but the only lens that interests me is the 28mm equivalent. So its just a cleaner sensor version of the GRD3 I already have, since the interface is so similar. And I just don't feel the need/want for another 28mm option. The GRD works for me in most situations - I'm not looking for cleaner for the kinds of shooting I'd do with it. And I've got the focal length covered in four different lenses on my EPL3, which has everything going for it that the GRD 3 does except that its not silent, but does have a flip screen. I just feel like I'm covered there for anything I'd want to do with the GXR. I still love the X100 as my "large sensor" camera - not as a primary camera but as a "variety is the spice of life" camera that keeps me honest somehow.

But I love what you and others are doing with the GXR. Maybe if they develop more lens/sensor modules it'll eventually be a replacement for m43 in my bag, but its nowhere close currently, and that level of options doesn't seem to be the direction Ricoh is heading...

Ray, after this weekends historic shoot, if you want to try the camera, we can meet up and you can use it for a few days. Let me know.

Duane... The viewfinder was OFF my radar until you mentioned how your using it.
Hmmm mm?
