No Siberian rarity this time, but something I've known all my bird watching life, which actually means most of my life, a male Stonechat, a resident species with us but one that can be badly reduced in numbers in hard winters.

So many species! I admire you all for your bird photography abilities very much! greyelm, you must be a birder at heart? Love the blurred little fellow hanging out with his pals at the feeder that you took with your GF1 - they almost look like our Tufted Titmouse...well, a little. And those two gulls look as though they just popped out for a private conversation.

Jimmy, the regal swan beautiful in that setting. And Barrie, I can see he's a nervous fellow, but you've seen him well hiding in that camouflaging brush!

beware of flying hawks

This hawk kept circling over my head. I had my NEX-3 with a 70-150mm Vivitar attached and kept snapping away.

Not sure why the sky ended up so many different colors, but it might have to do with constantly turning to catch him as he flew all around me. I was in AWD at the time, so that might have added to the inconsistent coloring.

this tiny beautiful creature (a female Bullfinch) was just sitting beneath a hedge, it probably wasn't well, it made no attempt to move when i came near, though it blinked a bit. So I marvelled at it and moved on.
