Jason, it's good to see you - and these two dramatic black and whites, which make me feel as though winter is soon to be upon us. I'm sorry I can't remember where you live, but I can feel the cold in these...or maybe that's just me? Beautiful stark images.

elroos, welcome - that is a gorgeous closeup! Please stop over to the Welcomes and Introductions forum when you have the chance.(y)

Here are a few more shots with the NEX-5. I hope you like them. Comment and criticism welcome:)

a quickr pickr post

Leo, thanks so much for these. I read over on your introduction that you live very close to the beach - you're lucky and I can see you're making the most of it photographically. I like the grittiness in your first very much. My true favorite of this group is "the dog walkers" - the people and their dogs have so much in common and your choice of black and white was excellent. I'm so glad the people were looking in your direction - wonderful highlights!

I'm just beginning using my 5N, but I am deeply impressed. Until now my K-5 was my favourite camera (for at least the last 20 years - before that there were some that stirred my soul, like the Minox GL, the very first full-format compact). Now I don't quite know what to say - colour rendering is for me better with the 5N, the menu system perhaps not that good as the K-5's, resolution seems to me slightly better with the 5N,
and portabilty is better for the 5N, of course, and while the K-5 has a massive lens base, the 5N has as few as the Pentax Q. I use my 'older' Pentax lenses, and the Tamron SP 90, with my 5N, but a Pentax with similar specs as the NEX, but splash-proof, would be a killer!

Thanks christilou, Andrewteee and BBW! Yes, the dog walkers turned out quite well. I had the lens focused on that spot and waited for something interesting to walk in to that focus. And I was very lucky that they were so 'synchronized' and were looking in my direction.

I hope to see some photos soon:)

Thanks. Mostly processed with DXO Optics. I downloaded the trial version and have been experimenting with it though the final few tweaks were done back in LR.
