Do you still have a DSLR?

Around two years ago I missed the jump to the D700, so my D300 is still in the bag. When some more 'challengeing' photography may happen, the Nikon comes into the trunk. Same with the yearly oldtimer rally with friends. The D300 + 17-55 f 2.8. This combo is heavy but fast.........

Interesting thread.

I'll start with my "trajectory" first - over the years I have used Pentax (and Ricoh), Nikon. Contax (and Yashica), Olympus and Leica SLRs. I have also used Olympus DSLRs from E-1 to E-3. Today the only SLR I own is a Nikon FM3a, bought specifically to give a new lease of life to my Leica R glass. My main "system is Leica M; currently M2, M7 .85 and MP4 .85 together with a bagful of Zeiss and Leica glass, plus a little Voigtlander to taste. I also have a Leica II with some Barnack glass. I "see" more in rangefinder terms than I ever do in SLR and the three areas where an SLR reigns supreme - sports, close-up and architecture - do not feature heavily in my subjects of choice. I therefore have no great need for tele, macro or PC lenses. I have dabbled with Micro 4/3 in the shape of the E-P1and found it offered too many compromises. My recent acquisition of the Ricoh GXR and M Module is, I think, a logical choice. I am still mainly a film shooter and use digital as an adjunct, or backup rather than primary. I have, incidentally, tried rangefinder digital in the shape of the Epson R-D1s but the clumsy shape and lack of build quality and ongoing support put me off. The M8 left me cold - a rushed, cobbled together dead-end camera with, again, too many compromises and the M9, whilst a giant leap forward, just doesn't have the soul of a film M. I can't see myself in the future ever bothering with a DSLR again - I like my cameras to be straightforward, essential and transparent to me as a user - but I have had some good times with them in the past. The key point is that you do not have to wield an anti-tank weapon to take "serious" photographs and I am past impressing the ladies with the size of my telephoto ;)

Anyway, here's one taken with a DSLR just for the hell of it...

I sold my canon 50d because it was just too heavy ,with extra lenses it was even worse.Went to micro four thirds but ended up using prime film lenses on it as I found they were sharper. My main DSLR of use now is my leica digilux 2 , i love the colour and the lens but at only 5 million pixels it only prints out 16x12 inches at a push so its very outdated ,its also slow. But it will have to do for now!
I have been looking at a pentax and still cant decide weather I want to go there again!

Sold my 5D and downsized to a Rebel. Am now clearing out the Rebel gear. Just didn't use it. I do miss it's faster PDAF AF for moving subjects, and also some better high ISO than my Pens, but not enough to justify keeping it around. Those shots are not that common enough for me to a) need the shot, and b) need it in a place where I know ahead of time, so I can pack the gear, and 3) in a place where I'm even willing to pack the gear. It's maybe 1-2 opportunities a year.

Well I started with a Digilux 2 and then a Panasonic GH1 but now seem to favour using both the Sigma DP1 and 2 (x). I struggled in the beginning with the Sigmas but now I'm quite adapted and find that the Panny is often too cumbersome. The image quality seems better too from the Sigmas. So while I haven't got rid of a DSLR, exactly, I am on the same serious compact trajectory.

I have a Canon 5D sitting in the cupboard, unused. It needs a clean and when I eventually get it cleaned up I'll sell it and use the money to get some more Contax G Zeiss glass for my Sony NEX 5N. I find the Canon way too big now but worse than that it was a bugger to focus properly with legacy glass. Despite the nice VF it had no Liveview and FF has such a narrow DOF you need all the help you can get.

This past weekend I took my Olympus E5 and 14-35mm to the forest both because it was raining and to take it for a spin and see if my memory serves me well that this is a pairing to keep. Well, the rain proved the camera's worth, but the pictures did too. Big, heavy, and not going anywhere anytime soon.

I suppose that I do but I really don't. At the museum I use 2 5D11's with "L" glass. They are not my cameras even tho I ordered them for the museum. I gotta say that they are great at what they do but using both for an event is murder. I do copy work and stuff like that so in actuality, I don't have a DSLR anymore but I do because I'm the only authorized shooter to use these and I could take them home for personal use but I'm tooooo oldt to carry that crap.

I sold my Nikon DSLRs after getting into Micro 4/3. The Micro 4/3 cameras replaced both DSLRs and small sensor compacts for me. After a period of time, I dabbled on the side with a Pentax K5, but I ended up selling that too and continuing with my MFT (now MFT and NEX) cameras.

I've no current desire for a DSLR. The only camera I lust after is the Fuji X10, but I'm going to continue to try and resist it.

I sold my last DSLR in 2010. I mostly use Panasonic GH2 (for video and personal stuff), Sony R1 for product shots and Samsung EX1 when I need a truly pocketable camera.

But I still use my film SLRs (Canon A-1 and Canon EF).

Amin.. I bet you have a Fuji X10 within the next 30-90 days.. I want one also.. just to try.. but the old saying by Yogi Berra is "if you don't have it, that is why you need it" :)

I still have my Pentax k100D with kit zooms, 50 f/1.4 and a Sigma 28-105. I don't use it much at the moment, may be I'll bring it with me in the next photography challenging travel, may be I won't and I'll bring only my Xz-1. I really don't know what to do.
I feel very fine with my Olympus XZ-1 but I know there are still pictures I can't take with it. The reflex can take them. I think that a M4/3 with 17 and 45 is all that I could need aside the compact, but I'm afraid that I wouldn't use it much more than my Pentax, so why should I spend all that money. Maybe I should keep my Pentax, sell the zooms and buy a DA 21 Limited. Maybe I could just keep it as it is, I love using the 50 and I wouldn't make much money selling the zooms.
In any case XZ-1 is my everyday camera now except when mountainbiking, when I use an all-weather Pentax W80.

I have a Ninon D300 and D700 with some fast glass. I like shooting sports and wildlife too much to switch at the moment.

Wifey has a M4/3 set-up (GH2 based) that I might take for a proper spin round the block one of these days.

Still have a K-5, three primes and two zooms, but have challenged myself to stay away and really learn my MFT camera. Would love to liberate the funds tied up in that system though...

woof!

Almost the same but I have 3 primes (2xDA and 1xFA) and 3 zooms (not the best quality ones tho). I keep finding reasons to sell but theres a nagging kind of sensation about having spent so much already and knowing I wont ever get close to recouping.
