Fuji Fuji X10 Sample Images

nippa, I like your gaggle of geese! Beautiful blue eye, orange bills and those two feet.;)

Otto, you asked why I don't use ISO 100. Honestly, it doesn't cross my mind. I tend to use 200 as my "go to" initially and then change depending upon f stop needs and shutter speeds, etc. I've been using my X10 both by setting the ISO manually and also by using the Auto ISO up to 1600 along with the M setting to take advantage of EXR. I am really very much in the early stages but have been extremely pleased with my results.

Btw, RAW Developer 1.93 seems to offer full support for the X10. No lens correction, of course, but at least EXR DR seems to be fully supported.

Looking for Spots.

This Shot was taking looking directly at a 1K lightbulb on Lighthouse on Oregon Coast with Fuji X10 . I did not see any White Dots as some have said would happen with this camera.. I have tried everything to get those white dots, but to no avail..

Here are a few from a bike ride yesterday. Reasonably sunny, everything shot in medium res so the EXR should be working - most came in at ISO 100 but no white dots. The white dots seem like a huge and unavoidable problem if you like doing long exposure nighttime cityscapes at low ISO using a tripod. Almost every one of those I've seen is more or less ruined by the white dots, as do a few shots I've seen of Christmas trees with the lights blowing up into white disks. It happens on daytime shots with really intense reflections, but its more hit and miss on those. Its a real issue for some folks. It would be enough to dissuade me from making this my only camera if I was a one-camera kind of guy, but I don't anticipate much of an issue for the way I shoot - it surely hasn't been thus far and I've done a lot of shooting for the short time I've had it.

I ride past this place on pretty much every ride (its just out of town on my normal route out of town and usually back in) and I never tire of checking it out in the various seasons. The house is nice enough to get closer and just get the house, but the trees on the site are so nice I usually let them obscure the place...

Flysurfer, those are really nice. I have a previous version of Topaz Adjust and everything always seems to come out of it looking really over-cooked - looks like the new version lets you turn down the heat quite a bit. I like the muted treatments a lot.

Doug, that's a really nice classic lighthouse shot. Blowing it up on Flickr it looks really nice. Was that shot in high res or medium?

Yep, the new one has much better presets. I never liked the presets of V4, so I always made up my own settings. Of course, the NIK suite is still much more advanced in many respects.

Ray, what a great day you had - love the different spots you stopped along the way and photographed. The river is really nice and I think I could be quite happy living in that house.;)

flysurfer, I, too, like the old fashioned king of vintage feel to your color pictures, in particular. You had great light during your ride!

MrDoug, many thanks for your classic lighthouse - lovely shot!

BB - I keep trying to figure out what's soooo identifiable about your shots, which are very clearly YOUR shots, whether you're shooting your family, your town, your dog, or something like this. And I think it's something about the way you're using vignette and/or edge burn. It's not at all uniform but it always seems to work. And you do handle colors really well too. Another fairly basic shot that's waaaaay better than it should be!

Thanks so much, Ray. You've made my day! Now if I can just get my husband to take the dog to the Vet's at the end of the day, everything will be hunky dory! Our dog gets extremely anxious going...sort of like taking a crying worried toddler to their first day of nursery school a la Groundhog Day.

Ray, awesome shots as always! may I ask your settings that these shots were taken with? I want try it on my X10 as well!
Thanks,
Doug
Thanks Doug.

Settings are medium Resolution (so that EXR is engaged), ISO - Auto 1600, DR - Auto, PASM modes (almost always Aperture priority), a -.33 exposure adjustment on a lot of them. And then some combination of settings and filters in Color Efex Pro, which has a lot to do with the final look...

Just noticed that my Boeing 747 picture on page 19 has an example of the dreaded white dot.
It was early days with the camera and I used ISO100 - I'm learning never to use that :)

To keep the thread alive...
Few more from this morning mainly in EXR auto mode taken at Tatton , Cheshire.
We're having one of the most colourful autumns for years.
The Las Vegas bound 747 is cropped by about half ( my token action shot ).

The pear is a wild shot. The pear itself is so sharp but the bokeh is a bit busy. I'm waiting for my X10, and to be honest, I'll take the bokeh to get the sharpness. I admit I lean toward sharp pictures.

So X10 owners, after now having enjoyed your new gear for some time, what are the first preliminary conclusions. In what respect is it better/worse than expected? Would you buy it again, maybe, no?

I haven't had mine all that long but I am very pleased with it. I need to have more together time but thus far, I like the camera a great deal. I like the ease of the controls and even though it's not as small and compact as the LX5 (which I used to have) I like its output much more from a color standpoint and find it much more comfortable to use - due to the controls. In addition, I do like the way the lens works, as well.

Right now I am only using jpegs but have had no issues what so ever... I look forward to getting to know the X10 better. I went back and forth about buying it quite often, however I am glad that I did.

For me, I think with any camera it's a personal decision. If money were no object - meaning if I didn't have to think about the costs involved - I am sure that I'd be happy to own several other cameras as well.;)
