Fuji X10 - price drop at Amazon to $549

I paid retail plus tax from a local shop here. Amazon didn't have it in stock back then. But glad I got the X10 in time for my last trip to Seattle/Vancouver.

So I'm on the phone right this moment talking to an Amazon rep, considering I just bought it yesterday... :D How do I do multiple (50, to be exact) thanks on that first post? :)

It's £465 on Amazon here, which is not quite as good a deal. My currency converter says the equivalent would be £350. Maybe I need to move!

What happens when someone sends gear from the US over to Scotland? Do they charge all sorts of tariffs and fees for the incoming gizmo? If not, perhaps it's worth buying from Amazon US, and then having a mate ship it over to Scotland.

Amazon's website states that they don't price match with others. Not sure what they do in situations like this one, where their own price dropped. Keep us posted! I'm interested to find out if they'll price match their own price and give you straight refund.

FYI, if Amazon requires you to return the camera, and then buy it again at the lower price, in order to avoid the return shipping fee, simply refuse receipt of the $600 camera shipment. If you refuse the shipment, it automatically gets sent back to Amazon, and Amazon gives you a full refund including the original shipping cost, and does not deduct the return shipping cost.

I refused shipment once because the tripod that I bought did not arrive in time for a trip.

Definitely need a multiple thanks button. :)

Very clever Armanius. Actually their policy states that if the prices changes before they ship they will honor that lower price but after that they do not refund. You know I would assume a few days or a week or such. I called them because the sale showed up literally a few hours after I got my camera in the mail box and I told the man that, which he could easily verify via tracking, and I did get the refund. He said it was because it was a significant price change from when it was shipped [as in during actual shipment]. He was very nice about it, no arguing whatsoever. I do prefer stores where I can actually touch things however there are no stores around here that carry what I purchased. Thanks!

Also so that others know, the camera came in my post box, no one came to the door. If you have a flat mailbox you might get door service or it left at the front door. There was no one in person to refuse delivery from though maybe taking it back to the post office is the same? They really did put a 600$ camera in my street side box. So glad I saw the mailman come. My Kindle arrived like that too though because it was too wide to fit in the box they had to come to the door. B&H sent the Ricoh UPS and had me sign for theirs.

Yes, I paid $599 as well in Idaho... but oh well.. but it has been fun to have.. so tonight to make up for the loss, my GF and I should have peanut butter sandwiches for dinner.. good way to justify/rationalize and make up for the loss.. LOL. I'm a great rationalizer.. I can make anything good in my mind..

I got refunded $50, no questions asked. :)

Amazon is good for returns etc.. no problems ever.. Amazon is my first choice when buying a Camera.. if it's sold by Amazon and not a sub retailer, but still has not been a problem.. if you are a registered Amazon reseller and you screw up with a customer, Amazon will cut you off as a reseller for sure..they are VERY picky about that..just my two cents.

All very good to be aware of - re Amazon and price changes, refusals, etc. I've found Amazon to be very good to deal with even when I thought my "window" to return had slammed shut on a new and unopened camera. B&H is very good about prices drops, I must add.

MrDoug, I'm taking a page from your book of life - eat more peanut butter!:friends:
