Leica Leica X1 Image Thread

I love ur post processing too! You've got a great eye and creativity for some very beautiful photos. On your blog I particularly like how you've used light in your photos, very motivational as I'm trying to improve my use of light. (just bookmarked your blog too :) )

Those are some wonderful photos Sparth.

I'm contemplating picking up a X1 for Dad who's been lusting after my M9 for a while now.

Did the AF speed improve with the 2.0 firmware?

Just saw the more recent images of this thread, and sparth your images are awesome. I was particularly stunned at the second image and how the man just seems separated from the rest of the image - no doubt Leica's signature 3D-ish subjects, almost as if the man has been photoshopped into the image. :)

Breathtaking quality!! Did you post process much if so what did you do?

Got my X1 back from Solms this afternoon with the skin fastened down .. I hope.
Just an excuse to put up two shots from earlier this year the first at one of my favorite places - Kermit Week's Flight of Fantasy at Polk City ( 20 minutes from Orlando).
I visit every couple of years and it makes a nice change from the Theme Parks:)

Everytime I look at the X1 photos, I want to get one. Prices for used ones have dropped, but are still more expensive than the X100. That X2 must be around the corner ...

After nearly 2 years of ownership the X1's IQ can still have the wow factor.
Not sure what an X2 can offer although a duo-focal length lens would be nice.

When you compare the cost of an X1 to the cost of a 24mm Elmarit lens for the M series of cameras it's almost like getting a free body with the lens ;)
Well that's how I justified buying one.

I think the 24 Elmarit (which may have been discontinued by now) is selling for $3-4K. So at $1300 for an used X1, it's a bargain!!! Good reasoning for sure!

But without a doubt, the images that I see from the X1 often have a good wow factor. Of course it does help when folks like you and Sparth take these really cool photos!

I'm not sure I buy into this comparison. The Elmarit is build to last for a lifetime and even your kids will be able to enjoy it, if they wanted. True, it costs an arm and a leg, but in the past, it appreciated in value. The X1 is costly as well but depreciates in value, thus it is an expensive buy, or at least was for early buyers like me. And lastly the sweet X1 lens is glued to a sensor and electronics which will be obsolete in a couple of years time.
Now the files the X1 produces are still outstanding. And you made good use of it as your nice pictures show.

My X1 has more than halved in value and so I decided to keep it. I've been inspired by other people's pictures and have been using the camera a lot more lately. Focus is slow but it's incredibly light and portable :) Keep the pictures coming please!

nippa, welcome back to your X1. I always loved the quality of the photographs that I was able to achieve with my X1 and I continue to enjoy seeing everyone's photographs - they inspire me, too, Christina - though I'll have to use an X1 with a couple of extra zeros.;)

The X1's size and weight are perfect in my opinion.

nippa - this event looks as though it was a treasure trove of photo ops - gorgeous classics everywhere!
