Getting a Cab in London

Love it - the "doormen" of yore, "Claridges" emblazoned ever so tastefully on the umbrella, the seemingly omnipresent rain....and our current morass of 21st century autos and the casual dress of the cab driver. That small sign in the upper left gives us our way out, I think.

Anyhow that's my early morning reaction to your fine photo. It makes me smile the way you've captured the incongruities, Christina.

Nice conversions Pete. Are you using any particular presets or techniques? Looks like a sort of infra-red look with those really dark skies (although the dark vegetation is sort of counter this).

Thanks Ray,
I am probably the worst post photo worker there is. I just used the slider to darken it and put some contrast in PS. This is an area where I neet to grow my craft.
It is alittle dark and gloomy which is what I like.
Thanks all

Pete

Wow! What a fantastic thread. Being new, I hadn't seen this before today, and just finished going through it. All I can say is that there are a lot of very talented photographers here. I hope to get to this level someday.

Although I don't do a lot in the way of portraiture, or street photography, here are a couple from over the years. Hope you like them.
This first one was taken with a Canon G7 while down in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I was sitting on a bench in the Governor's Plaza park waiting for my wife to finish some shopping when this gentleman sat down without a word. I slowly lifted my G7 and snapped. I call this one, "Thoughts on the Plaza".

This next one was taken with a Panasonic LX2 while shopping at the Cherry Creek Mall in Denver, Colorado. Notice the play in the reflections. I call this one, "Piano Man".

Thanks for looking,
Otto...

Amen, otto, have to love that second one of the "twin" pianists!:D

Bill, your "OOF" is a keeper, too - as I posted on your Flickr page, it's quite Paul Strand-ish. Nice shot!

(Thanks Javier!)
