To tell you the truth, I love this thread. There's beauty and contemplation in these photographs and in a world of craziness having a place to go to see nature's way is good for my soul. Yes, I'm lucky that I can get to places in real life too, but I like to come in here for the close-ups, especially and the lack of distractions.
This summer I hardly took any flower pictures which is strange. I don't know if it was the excessive rain and mosquitoes or what. I'm glad you all have and continue to.
Dorf, that's a stunning use of selective color, I'm guessing via Silver Efex Pro...and yes, that GRD III's macro is impressive!

Paul, that is one of your most beautiful and best ever - wow! The depth of color and the quality of the image with that lighting is exemplary - but more than those things...is the image itself. I think that you and the Dp2 may well have been made for each other.

Thanks Hun!! Still learning how to deal with lighting but was lucky with the flash for this little session. I bounced the flash off the ceiling and had a black background. It seems to have worked quite well. Just need some nice exotic flowers to photograph now!!

Hi BB, Sow-thistles are not actually thistles, they are part of the Hawkweed family, so think Dandelions and the like, though their leaves resemble thistles. All part of the reason why I really don't do botany, all too confusing.

I saw a great many forms of Yellow Wagtail during the 1970's when I worked in the Middle East, however these days I think I would struggle with some of them, wouldn't want to be responsible for starting a twitch when I had it wrong, and wouldn't want to be anywhere near the twitch either.
