The first of a few taken last week on a trip to Frankfurt. These were all taken with a DSLR rather than a serious compact so I'll keep them to this specific thread. First up, a general view of the city skyline viewed across the River Main. More to follow.

Apparently I have been here before but I have no recollection. I'm hoping your pictures will jog my memory so looking forward to seeing more.

It might depend when you were there before. Most of the shots I took were of the architecture of these high rise buildings many of which are relatively recent. The Commerzbank Tower on the right here has only been around since 1997. The cylindrical Main Tower beside it was finished in 2000.

Thanks Kal. Glad you like it.

Snake, there's no effect involved. It was from a RAW file processed in Lightroom. I used the B+W high contrast preset and tweaked it further from there mostly by applying contrast and clarity selectively to the building itself. Everything else is down to the natural light which was shining strongly from just over my left shoulder.

Snake, there's some good architectural shots to be had with all the high rises. There's a lot less of the 'traditional' German style since only a few small areas were reconstructed after WW2. The river and its walkways are good for people shooting.

Also, if you want to travel out a little both Heidelberg and Marburg are only an hour away by train and Mainz which has a spectacular cathedral is ony 45 minutes away on the S-Bahn. If you haven't already seen it there's a lot of information on the city website and the In your Pocket website.

I'll try, but I'll only be there for one day, with limited time.

This weekend, I'll be going to Bonn, so I'm hoping to find something there. I have a little time off, so I want to try to get some photo projects in western Germany.
