Ricoh Shooter's Unabridged thoughts and feelings about the GXR

Andrew, the prices for used are dropping here in the states. They will be $750.00 used by New Year....
I'm undecided about mine....I owe some money and selling it would clear the debt but I am not sure about moving it... The GXR is replacing it very rapidly tho....

Even though I'm tempted by the NEX 7 (built in viewfinder works for me better than an add-on or no VF) I have to admit I'm *very* tempted by the GXR. If I could live with its accessory VF I'm sure I'd be happy with it and I like the concept very much not to mention the images coming from you GXR folks.

Agree with you on X100 prices, they will be dropping in the not distant future on the used market and probably even new before very long. Recognizing and fearing that, I just sold mine for not far off what I paid for it. Yes, I miss it, but that's only because I don't have a nice compact with interchangeable lenses to replace it. Yet.

Oh, we probably listen to the same sirens all day too! I'm on the P. Hill estate so about the same distance from FP. I use Windsor for a bit of local colour :)

Snap! You'll be telling me next that the Ravenscote Mum-runners park across your driveway too! ;)

Getting back on-topic, I've not heard about a larger-sensor 24-70 although it is a logical development - very interesting...

The A12 2470 will no doubt bring many new people to the GXR. Many are zoomie orientated and this lens will do the trick.
The thing with the GXR is, you can talk till your blue in the face but once you handle one...it's all over. It won't be a cult following much longer.

I hate camera bags... I have a closet full and nothing is perfect. I think the Domke FX5b might work but it's still to big, no rear pocket, no pocket in the lid....bummer!

It's never too late. Eventually the GXR gets the recognition and atttention it deserves. When it was released I got one with the 50mm equivalent module to compare it with my X1. I did not make a lot of friends over at the Leica forum when I concluded that the Ricoh was clearly the better camera of the two, and this was before several FW upgrades which made it even better since. I sold it too free up funds for the X100, but might jump back in.

Here's one from the other day of the view from just entering the development I live:
