Fuji X100 Firmware 1.11 Update Posted

:D adanac and Ray. Show's you how observant I am about the changes and how closely I read through that update...probably because none really hit home with me. I would like to see how the number "auto focus at near distance" has improved...though I think my macro shots have worked out pretty well.

I wouldn't lose hope for some more serious firmware updates such as the RAW button and the Auto ISO access.

Manual focus on the AFL/AEL button STILL focuses much closer than AF. Not sure what that improvement statement is all about.

I've just re-installed but why does it do a full reset (including date/time which I don't mind so much). I don't appreciate that it resets the image counter to 100 001 so unless I rename I'll have duplicate file numbers (albeit with different exif).

When you have updated the camera use the SD card with images taken just before the update and the new images counter will just carry on from the last one.

Do you mean after you've used a formatted card to update the firmware and it's all set then put in another (not formatted) SD card, the one you had been using pre update?

All I do for numbering after the update is take one picture. Then delete it. Remove card, using card reader I copy the last pic I took into the correct folder from my Mac. Insert card back in camera and voila! Numbering back where it was.

Though if I had given this any thought I would have used my second card to do the back up and simply re-inserted the card I was using with pics on it lol.

Yes, exactly that. I always use a spare SD card for the update so the one that was in the camera before the update shouldn't be formatted until it has been used at least once after the update.

:friends: I promise to do it soon!

Honestly, I don't really care about the numbers thing...I have my pictures organized in Lightroom by month and year but will try the separate SD card method.

Even I have managed to do it the Huff way :D

Which means you did it the "Ray way".

But it should be very easy to do. I'd bypass all of the Mac and PC updating software and just do it through the camera. Just download the FPUPDATE.DAT file and then copy that file onto a blank, freshly formatted SD card. Make sure your battery is pretty fully charged so it doesn't crap out mid-update - THAT would be bad! Put the card in the camera. Turn on the camera while holding down the "disp/back" button. Then just follow the prompts that come up on the screen. Pretty simple process.

But if you folks need an actual blogger before you trust it... Just kidding. But this really isn't difficult stuff, even for the phobic among us...

No, I'm sure it's nothing new however for some of us who are more "challenged" and hadn't ever owned a Fuji that first firmware update was a little unusual...at least for me it was.

Glad to hear everyone's updates are going well.(y)

The installer won't work with Lion on my MacPro... says something about PowerPC... I believe Apple removed all that legacy code, anyway. I guess I'll have to find a windows computer somewhere? Hmmm....

Does the camera startup any faster?

The installer just adds another layer for something to go wrong. I'd just use the computer (Mac or PC - doesn't matter) to download the upgrade file and copy it onto a newly formatted SD card. Then put the card in the camera with a full battery and start the camera while holding down the "BACK" key. Then just follow the prompts. It couldn't be easier.

Ah, so I don't need the "installer" to copy the image to the sd card, huh? I assume I need to reformat the sd card in the camera and NOT on the computer.

No, you don't need the installer at all. Just download the file. And, yes, format the card in the camera. Then copy the file onto the card. Start the camera while holding the "back" button (actually "disp/back") and follow the prompts.
