    Who uses Blipfoto?

Hi, I discovered Blipfoto through kathyh on this forum. I like the purity of its (rigidly enforced) rules though have not been good a posting every day. I wondered if anyone else on the forum uses it? Finding people with common interests/outlooks to subscribe to is a bit random on...

    Micro 4/3 Lens advice please

So, for the record, I bought a low use secondhand EP-1 body and a Panasonic 20mm. It feels big and heavy after the LX-3, but I am beginning to get the hang of it. Here is a favourite from this weekend, straight from the camera:

Thanks. This part of the city floods several times a year, when we get the combination of heavy rain in the hills upstream and a high tide downstream. It happens so often that the pub you can see there keeps the beer upstairs! Tom

    Micro 4/3 Lens advice please

I went into town today and my local camera shop had just received its first delivery of EPL-2s. So I had a play and learnt three things: 1. The 14-42 mkII is a lovely bit of engineering, very small but also solid. It would be a shame not to own one on those grounds alone! 2. The 14-150 could...

    Micro 4/3 Lens advice please

Ray, those are lovely shots! And a really useful thread. Thanks v. much for the link. Quick question: do you use the VF-2 or are those taken in 'compact' mode?

    Micro 4/3 Lens advice please

I loved the size, especially on the E4x0 series which didn't need a neckstrap when used with this lens but were easy enough to carry in one hand. But it was also hardly noticeable as a lens on the E620. Photographically, I liked the fact it was instant focus and a natural fov. The quality is...

    Micro 4/3 Lens advice please

Choices, choices ... don't make life any harder than it already is! @AzPete: The reasons for buying the 20mm are aperture and size (I like to put cameras in pockets when possible). My favourite 4/3 lens was the 25mm pancake and I own a Zeiss 45mm Tessar pancake too, but both of those are...

    Micro 4/3 Lens advice please

Thanks, Ray, that is really helpful. That is what one would hope for from this sort of lens, but I wanted to ask in case there were some stories of people who found it didn't live up to (reasonable) expectations. Tom

    Micro 4/3 Lens advice please

Yes, that was my first thought too. But I wondered if there were any quality/performance issues with the 14-150 which might outweigh the practical benefits of such a wide zoom range in a small package. Best, Tom

    Micro 4/3 Lens advice please

I finally admitted that - since I bought an LX-3 - I almost never use my DSLR so I sold it over the weekend. But, however great the LX-3 is, I sometimes need a little more lowlight quality than the LX-3 can give and with the money from the sale burning a hole in my pocket, I have decided to buy...

    Smartphone Cell Phone Camera photos

I currently have a Nokia and, despite much marketing about the quality of the camera and Zeiss lens, it doesn't have a jpeg superfine setting, so the images are generally rubbish. My old Sony Ericsson was better. This is Freedom Square in Budapest:

Panasonic LX5 recommended settings for everyday (and night) use

Stealth marketing! I hadn't thought of that. Anyway, he clearly likes his LX3 and whenever there isn't a reason to use one of the others, it is back in his hand. Tom

Panasonic LX5 recommended settings for everyday (and night) use

I was given the DVD 'Travelling Light' by the landscape photographer Charlie Waite for Christmas, in which he takes some compact cameras out on a shoot. One of then is an LX3 and it is clearly his personal camera (signs of wear, accessories etc.) rather than one bought for the exercise. There...

Micro 4/3 Panasonic LX / Leica D-LUX Image Thread

Congratulations Karen! Lovely photo and amazing colours. Was this taken on the LX-5 in iAuto mode! I seemed to miss all the good light on my recent trip, but here is Bloor St West reflected in the Crystal:

Wow, Karen, those last two are really great. You have clearly got to grips with the camera. Love to see some more.

Wow - impressive detail - especially the first one which needs subtle tones to work. What setting did you have the in-camera noise reduction at? On my LX-3, I always have it at -2 to keep maximum detail and avoid a watercolour effect. Could we see a full-size image to peep those pixels? Tom

Micro 4/3 Panasonic LX / Leica D-LUX Image Thread

Hi José Yes, I did get in with a UK passport. Getting a visa was tiresome (get there at 8 a.m., wait all day, then come back in a week to collect) but there was no suspicion - however, I did have an invitation from the University of Tehran which might have helped. When you are there, the big...

Here is one using the 'Film Grain' scene mode. I think it loses a bit too much detail in the shadows, but it is fun to use on the sly.

Nice one, Michael. Did you use the 'Grainy B&W' setting or do the conversion yourself?

Thanks for the nice comments, guys. I chose this one because I think it shows what a capable little camera the LX-3 is.

I love my LX-3 and am surprised no one has followed up this thread. So here is one from a recent trip to Isfahan: Panasonic DMC-LX3, f/2.8 @ 12.8 mm, 1/50, ISO 400.
