Luke is right. It is a light fixture. I really like how it turned out. I was having a particularly off kilter day. I must have been trying to straighten or balance my perspective out because all of my shots that day were stark, abstract, and lined.

If you set your Flickr account so that only you have access to the original files, I believe this prevents downloading. You can also set it so others cannot share via various social media. The only way they can get your pic then (unless they are a hacker) is to take a screenshot. I don't know...

I just read a blog entry by a woman who's photo (of her family, no less!) was stolen and used in a newspaper article, an article that she had serious issues with besides the stolen image. So are journalists trolling Flickr for images now that they've cut photography staff?! Argh. I don't...

Two today, taken during a walk on the trails instead of the beach. My dog was very patient while I took these. Yes, she got a treat. :)

Not sure if this has been abandoned and someone tied it up to keep it from littering the sea, or what. The tide hasn't come up that high all summer.

The ocean does it somehow, but I don't know how it starts. There are lots of holes and interesting rock formations on the beaches here. I missed a geologic walk this summer. I would have really liked to hear about how all of this happens, and what kind of rocks we have.

Thank you. The GRD IV couldn't quite get the silhouettes of the distant island and mountains in all their glory so I focused on the water surface, a subject that mesmerizes me anyway.

It's better than mudding and sanding drywall. I thought that would never end! I'm looking at the painting as progress. :)

Petroglyphs. I'm not sure if I was viewing them the right way up or not. There are quite a few along this stretch of beach where I often walk. Most seem to be of fish or whales. I don't know if they were carved as art or signs.

Double self portrait in the spoons.

Oh, I don't want to go through this every 3 months. It seems strange, as I'd heard that they were pretty tough, despite the retractable lens. Hmmm... I've been doing some searching for that metal cap that will protect it, and keep it from turning on inside my bag, the GL-1. Maybe that would help.

Thanks. Yes, the macro is pretty amazing. I've heard it beats the GR in this. I haven't tried the GR, but I was pretty impressed with the IV's abilities getting up close and personal.
