Nice review Ray. I actually like the modular approach of having a separate EVF for the EP5. You can use it when you need it. For SP with a wide lens, I probably would not. Shooting wildlife with a tele I definitely would. Kinda reminds me of the system approach of my old Hassleblad. Will the Oly...
Alright...have ordered a black E-PL5 w/ kit zoom plus a Pany 14mm f2.5. What is the opinion on third party batts? I see that the Wasabi replacement is rated at 2000mah vs. 1400 for the oem. Just want to be sure I don't fry any circuitry and void the warranty!
All very interesting. Back in the day when I shot film, I used a Leica IIIb w/ 28mm f3.5 Nikkor screwmount (yes, Nikkor) that had a very quiet cloth shutter. Just made a littl "pffft". Does anybody use the Lumix GX-1 and if so, how is IQ say compared to the Oly EPL5 or other Pen's ?
By "compromise" I meant that my ideal camera might be a smaller Sony RX1 with a retracting lens and articulated screen...might as well add a built-in EVF to that while we're at it. Oh, and for about 500 bucks. So every camera has some compromise, for now anyway.
The last Oly I owned was a...
I was wondering about that...thanks for letting me know. I think probably all MILC's have that problem. The Samsung EX2F I have been playing around with has an electronic shutter that you can just turn off. Everything has a compromise!
Thanks for the feedback. I was curious as to whether or not it was worth twice as much. I would certainly appreciate a second control wheel as well as the squarer screen - the other differences, not as much.
Thanks guys for all of your feedback. Yeah, size is a priority, but the E-PL5 w/ 14mm f2.5 looks eminently doable. Just a tad deeper than the EX2F and not much bigger elsewise. So what exactly is the difference between the E-P5 and E-PL5 other than a few hundred dollars, more manual controls and...
Thanks guys for the great advice !!! Seems like the 14mm f2.5 is a bastard child that few love. I have a friend who has one and mostly uses an Oly OMD. When I asked him about it he said he's never mounted the lens on the camera...he keeps it on his EP2 in his backpack!!! I forgot to mention...
Hi - I am new to the forum and joined hoping to get some advice on a camera purchase. Up until the beginning of this year I had been using a PowerShot G11 as my carry-around street camera. My wife needed a camera for her real estate work and asked me for a recommendation so I suggested the...
