We went to the Abingdon Air and Country show on Sunday, it was a really well attended event and despite the ongoing threat of rain, we managed to survive until the end of the day before it did rain.

It was a good show and the flying display was very good with many older prop aircraft, all was going well until there was an unfortunate incident resulting in one of the display pilots having to make a forced landing resulting in injury, it took a good hour for the incident to be resolved with the injured pilot being transported to hospital (hopefully he makes a swift and full recovery).

The flying continued but some booked to attend were not able to make it however those present delivered a superb show and provided entertainment for all the family.

Apologies for it being so image heavy but it was a great day out - the full set can be seen here - 571 Photography

Thanks Mike, it was a good day with some superb vintage aircraft just sad about the accident but I understand the pilot is not seriously hurt.

Great shots ian. I can't wait for the IAT in Fairford in July. Getting an itchy shutter finger.

Thank you Paul, I am also waiting for RIAT. I will probably head over to Totterdown again this year as it is a good vantage point, easy to get too and cheap!

Due to illness I cannot stand as long as I used to so I have booked 2 seats in the "viewing village". This gives you an airside seat right up to the runway. I reckon my 100-400 with the teleconverter should do the trick. Lets hope for good weather, attractive clouds and some good shooting. I just hope I can get my shutter speeds down enough to get prop blur (but I understand there are not many piston jobs booked).

Thanks Paul for posting the list of attendees at RIAT, it is very much the same old contenders with a few variations but still worth some photos. It sounds like you have done the right thing and you should get some superb images from the village.

I just have no enthusiasm for the long queues to get in coupled with the expensive admission price even though there is a lot for all the family, I am happy to pay my £5 for a viewing area with facilities where I can get the photos I want and be very close to the car if I need to chill - I only live 8 miles from Fairford so not long to get there.

Yes the queues can be a bit of a bugger. I travel there however, on a coach/ mini holiday and they seem to get into the bases fairly quickly. The admission fee is in with the price and I can't figure out how they do it so cheap but there it is. I wish I lived nearer the bases but they are, historically, mostly in the South. I'm looking forward to seeing the F22 Raptor and a few others amongst the standard fare but Im aircraft daft and enjoy seeing all the old players there. Does your car have toilet facilities?

They are outstanding Ian. You picked a great spot. There were lots of "Long Tom" lenses on display there - some ludicrously too long to handhold. But it almost looks as if you are flightside with yours - they are superb photos.

Thank you Paul, it is a good venue as they come overhead and are all close enough for the 100-400 to do its job with ease!
