Asian Retails on eBay

    To any U.S. members... have you purchased any photo gear from Asian sellers (specifically Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan) on eBay? If so, how did the deal go? Are there any specific retailers/sellers you can recommend? And, finally, what were the customs fees for your purchase and how were they handled? The prices on some brand-new Fuji lenses from these sellers has my interest.

    In some cases, yes. The 18mm f/2.0 is one example.

    I ordered a 14mm from a HK ebay company and it arrived well packed in just a few days and there were no customs or duties to pay on a $700 lens. This might not always be the case though regarding customs. Some of the companies state that they will cover extra charges but I have not heard if this actually works out.

    The current US Fuji lens rebates run until 11/29. About a week or so ago, eBay had a 10% off promo (not ebay bucks) and I ended up getting a 10-24mm from a US dealer for $702 after rebate+ discount plus I got eBay bucks on top of that. Sometimes I get lucky...
