I went back to visit the asylum with my brother Mike today -- a mission specifically to capture one shot but I got a few more while I was there.

Two hour drive starting at 4AM from my brother's house to get there, hiking in by early dawn light, though the steam tunnels, 4 hours inside exploring (and some photography) and then 2 hours back to my brother's. Got up at 3:30AM (stayed at his place) -- long day!

Anyway, I met a relative of the "Eternal Timeout" bunny and her name is Bunyip. I asked about her cousin in timeout and she would only say, "Bad Rabbit!" -- In truth she doesn't say much at all...

Here's some of the photos I got. The last two are from my Fuji X100 though. The rest from the GH2 and 7-14mm. This is the first time my X100 has been asylum crawling.

A couple more, including "Oxygen Therapy Daleks" that still roll down the empty corridors screaming, "Ventilate! Ventilate!"... tee hee.

This first one is with the X100, taken in very, very dim light on my brother's back porch late at night. We stayed up talking way too late considering we had to be up at 3:30AM to get out to the asylum. The other two are from the GH2.

Very nice John, I enjoyed these on FB and Flickr earlier but hadn't seen the last few you posted.

I see your brother and I share opinions about the command line too, haha. I'm curious, you mentioned needing to get a version of the piano shot that you can print larger - what did that entail? Was the earlier version cropped heavily or at high ISO or something that necessitated shooting it again?

    First, thanks!

The original was shot very close wide open and the depth of field was quite narrow. It just doesn't look right for a large print -- or at least that is how I think in that case. There were like 3 keys in focus and the Kroeger logo was also blurred.

Thanks! I hope my client likes it, lol. Well, it's going to hang for the opening regardless and it's better than nothing!

You make me happy! I worked so hard to get that right and still get a dramatic look, lol. There's lots of things you do to process that have unintended consequences. I've sent it out to be printed as a rush order and we'll see how it looks on Fuji Pearl paper at 24x36. Fingers crossed.
