I made an up-and back trip today to Cranberry Glades in Pocahontas County, WV, to enjoy the first day of Autumn, my favorite season. The weather was perfect: a bit chilly when I first got there, then getting warm but not hot (unlike where I live). At the much higher altitude of the eastern highlands, the foliage is much farther along. Being an alpine setting, plant life in the Cranberry Basin is rich, diverse, and very unlike the western part of the state where I live. I followed a trail that roughly circles the basin, climbing and descending numerous hills, riding my bike when I could and pushing when my legs got tired. 13+ miles on the bike & hike, with some stunning scenery. The last is a mountain wetland area a few miles away. All with the X30.
