Shallow depth of field with software?

Few compacts do shallow DoF very well (in comparison to DSLR with fast prime). I've done some searching and could only find a few software tools that can do this in post processing. I found only these 2:

- Alienskin Bokeh, have just downloaded the trail. A thad expensive at $199.
- On 1 FocalPoint, requires PhotoShop unfortunately.

Do you guys have any experiences or advise to share?
Or any other tools that have such functionality?

Preferably this should work as a plug-in to LightRoom. When i've done some work with Bokeh I'll report my findings.

Photoshop alone can do this and has been able to for at least 18 years, not sure about other apps. I took a photo of a statue in Venice, scanned it, made the main statue sepia and the rest b&w and blurred. The print of that is the only remains I have of my photos prior to 1995.
