Good way to enjoy my first cup of coffee of the day, perusing some Jazz festival shots. I like that first one a lot... tons of shadow and just enough light to see what you need to.

Hope you're enjoying the the festival Gary!

Thanks Flamed Grilled Chicken, it was an event full of fun.
There are three more weekends of Jazz until the music is done.

They're nice shots, I'm also a big jazz fan, I'll try to take some shots when the Jazz festival is on in Melbourne.

The music was actually quite good, and the evening was Californian mild.
People were dancing in the streets with abandonment which was wild.

The harmonica musician was unique and just blew us away,
He had us all on our feet clapping by the end of the day.

It's the 55-200 that has really intrigued me. I traded a 12-35 for an X-E1 kit and bought the long zoom. After seeing the price of the expected 40-150, and looking at photos here, I made a sensible choice, I think. I'll have to wait for delivery to know for sure.

Really like the 1st one in the set and better in BW, Senior Ayala. The bassist looks like his day job is woodworking. (BTW...Did you get hit in the head or something? I missed the transition to "limerick speak" ;)

Mu-43 is in a tizzy over Fuji "defectors"! Man, no wonder there are wars still!

Jloden (Jay) published a post on mu-43 -- to either much acclaim or ridicule, lol -- about the "Fuji Flu is Spreading".

Ladies and Gentlemen, the CDC in Atlanta has determined that a major vector for the flu is a photographer in CA named Gary Ayala. Anybody know him?...

Love these, Gary, and am looking forward to putting my new 55-200mm to use.

Yes, he is probably on the mu-43 "terrist" list and being monitored closely. Could explain the limericks...Some sort of code.

For brevity and clarity sake I will step out of character and and write without rhyme.
As I think, for this response, maybe rhyme is now out of time.

    *damn*

uno mas ... Fuji makes great lenses. And, like Nikkor of old, it appears they only make one level of lenses ... the best they can for a sensible price. I have/had the 14mm, 18-55, 35mm, 55-200 and 60mm lenses ... all of them are stellar on the resolution side of the equation. LOL on the bass pointing to the string he's gonna pluck next. As to the Fuji wars, that pretty funny. These images were very hard for me to shoot with the Fuji. The following day, same venue I shot MFT, the performance of the OM-D, the focus the faster lenses made the image capture much much easier. (I am sure being a Fuji neophyte contributed to having to work harder with Fuji ... even taking that into account the OM-D can easily shoot rings around the Fuji ... haven't processed the OM-D yet.)

The Fuji EFV smear factor when updating was bothersome. Smears much easier and much more often than the Oly EVF. (It could be my Fuji IS setting also ... need to look into that.) For what and how I shoot, I still contend that if I could only own one camera system, it would be MFT.

Very, very nice! My favorites - if I have to pick those - are #1 and the harmonica player in B/W. Awesome!

Gary, you're a photojournalist at heart, right? If focus speed is the need, with Fuji, one can only plead!
I promise not to do that again...

There is another infection rampant and it's the "verse bug", lol.

Gary: yes mu-43 is much more responsive. Haven't tried the X100S yet (though Luke's is on the way to me) but for sure the X-E1 is not as fast as any modern mu-43 camera.

Jay: Ooops! I thought you started it, sorry.

Rhyme, like the Fuji, are not easy or quick,
But the end results from both are pleasing and slick.
