Does anyone know if there is a way to mask the gradient filter (not sure if that is the right name for it). For instance, if I'm trying to darken the sky I'll use the gradient filter to decrease the exposure from the top of the photo to the horizon. However, if there is a tree that extends from the lower part of the photo to the top it also gets the exposure adjustment.

What I want to do is have the tree pop out and keep the local exposure but darken the sky. So... is there any way to use the gradient filter and mask over the tree?

Thanks in advance for any help.
