    As part of Hull City of Culture 2017, we currently have "The Poppies" on show in our City Centre. They're against the backdrop of Hull Maritime Museum but I chose one without the museum in shot.

    Britanica, these are from 2014 commemorating the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War at the Tower of London. the poppies are ceramic and were sold for charity, I have one in my living room! One poppy per British Soldier who died.

    That is stunning!! I love the ceremonies and such you guys do in the UK. We don't see many things like this in the US, at least not where I am. That is absolutely beautiful!

    Each poppy was hand assembled by volunteers!

    volunteers.

    Mind you if were out of favour with the monarch, you ended up going through this gate never to come out, at least not with your head! Many a famous person went though this gate such as Sir Thomas More, Lady Jane Grey and Sir Walter Raleigh!

    These chaps and one woman are ex-servicemen of senior NCO rank and are quite well paid
