    Bluegrass and Classical comes together,
At The Hollywood Bowl and the California weather.
The Goat Rodeo Session is the name on the flyer,
The goats are Yo-Yo Ma, Stuart Duncan, Chris Thile and Edgar Meyer.

Another sold out performance for the Goats,
At the Bowl they will sow their wild oats.

Before the session, a bite and some wine.
Stainless steel wine glasses are perfect to dine.
At The Bowl, better a dent than a shatter,
I prefer steel to glass on that matter.

The Urban Dictionary defines a Goat Rodeo:
    1) A chaotic situation, often one that involves several people, each with a different agenda/vision/perception of what's going on; a situation that is very difficult, despite energy and efforts, to instill any sense or order ...

    _DSF3048-L.
    2) A Goat Rodeo AKA Goat Rope, is about the most polite term used by aviation people (and others in higher risk situations) to describe a scenario that requires about 100 things to go right at once if you intend to walk away from it.

This is Paul. Security wouldn't allow his dSLR into the Goat Rodeo Session.
So he's shooting with his phone and a bit upset by the policing oppression.

    _DSF3073-L.
The music was simply astounding and unbelievable ...

    _DSF3070-L.
In that place and time, magica was achievable ...

    _DSF3052-L.
In the heavens, high above the Hollywood Bowl,
An X marked the spot where all the parts became whole.

If you ever have the chance, please catch the Goat Rodeo Session.
It is a performance that takes music to a higher accession.

    Bill,

I strongly suggest you sample a song or two.

This was, without a doubt, one of the most entertaining, wonderful, soul touching performances I have ever attended. Hours and hours of this wonderful music just pouring out from the stage right into our laps. We were all mesmerized ... nobody stirred during the songs and at the end just this eruption ... explosion of applause. Everybody was just so happy to be there ... to be a participant to the event. I have seen Yo-Yo Ma a number of times, but never have I seen him work so hard, just to keep up with the fiddlers ... and through it all, all the sweat and hard work, Yo-Yo Ma had this huge grin from ear to ear. I think the performers enjoyed the performance more so than the spectators.

The performance is worth going way out of your way to attend. I feel lucky that it was in my backyard.

The Bowl is my favorite arena for musical entertainment.

This is Paul's date. Paul's from Los Angeles and she is from Taiwan. Interestingly, Paul hadn't any concerns about retrieving his dSLR from the Bowl's management office.

That really is a special venue you have. Great photos as always.

This is yet another reason why an X100 or X100S can "beat" a DSLR, lol.

Mary Lou and I were exploring wine country up north,
Solvang is where She and I went forth.
In a tasting room we found the deal,
Wine glasses spun from stainless steel.

Mary Lou pointed and whispered in my ear,
"Those glasses would be perfect for The Bowl, my dear."
The Bowl ushers also appreciated the steel wine glass,
As cleaning up broken glass was a pain in the ... neck.

Thanks Gary - have surfed You Tube and now know why you were so blown away. I knew who Yoyo Ma was of course and have been a fan of Chris Thile for some years (I played in a Bluegrass band myself). Again thanks for the heads up and the photos.

That must have been special to attend. I never heard of the goat rodeo so I had to look it up, but ever since I heard Chris Botti in Boston, I know who Yo-Yo Ma is. ;-)
My favorite photo is the blue X.
The wine looks pretty good too!

The music flowed from the Bowl, like a fine wine it poured,
We all drank our fill and at the end we still wanted more.

As a start the Pinot Gris was a delight,
But the Pinot Noir during the concert punctuated the night.

The X is made by the crossing of two Klieg lights,
Marking the sky above the Bowl during the nights.

(There is a No Fly Zone around the Bowl during performances. )

I love the Pinot Noir's from Oregon. Was it from Oregon or California? Whatever it was was, it did punctuate your evening and that is the most important thing!

California of course, from a winery north a few hours.
Where the finest Pinot Noir's in the world are crafted amongst the flowers.
