I am experiencing problems updating the XP1 from 2.03 to 2.04. Anybody in the same boat?
What problems are you getting?
1) I download FPUPDATE(1).DAT updater from Fuji site;
2) I move FPUPDATE(1).DAT file to desktop;
3) Copy file from desktop to newly formated card;
4) Move card to camera;
5) Camera doesn't recognize file.
6) Camera now states latest firmware already installed.
PS- I'm using a Mac. In the past, I've successfully updated to 2.03.
I think I've figured it out. I need to update the lens firmware first to 1.01 then the body to 2.04.
Nope, that didn't do it either. The camera doesn't recognize the 1.01 update for the 18-200 or the body update for 2.04 from 2.03.
Perhaps kicking an open door:
What does the camera say when you check the current version?
Did you copy the update to the top level on your card?
Something I am not sure of if it causes a problem(as I haven't tried it) but you speak about FPUPDATE(1).DAT. That implies there already is an FPUPDATE.DAT file on your computer. Try renaming the old file to something else (I use FPUPDATE_203.DAT and rename the new one to FPUPDATE.DAT. Try update again.
The update installed beautifully on my cam.
For at the card in-camera first, then download the body only update again. Then add it to the card and put it in the body. Make sure you eject the card properly though from the mac. Then update the body in the normal way, switch of the back on before formatting the card in-camera, then do the lens updates. Double check that you are selecting the body or the lens for the appropriate update as that will affect what the process... Fuji needs to do a fresh look to how these updates are done as it a confusing set up.
For at should read format
I've reformatted the card on every attempt. I deleted the "(1)" file and I'm only attempting updates with an original download. I've easily and successful updated the camera up to 2.03 and lenses (60mm, 35mm, 14mm). I'll try again with a clean start this morning.
Thanks for helping and sharing my frustrations.
Completed! Started fresh this morning, no problemas ...
i was going to say the file name was wrong. did that end up being it?
(Sent from my EVO)
I dunno ... I think the first attempt may have failed because I may not have waited for the full 3-4 minute download to finish. After the first failure, maybe too much lingering stuff laying around the computer and card. Different computer this morning, a fresh wipe of the card and viola! Smooth as a hot knife through butter.
That is good to hear! Any idea what the problem was?
Not really, I suspect it was some lingering crap left over when I may have screwed up the initial download.
