F2 was just wonderful until Cnet told me that it's really bad and pretty much unusable below 10 ft.

I remember using f/2 with my old X100 for close-ups, like this:

That's pretty much macro distance, at least for the classic X100 (the S has improved MFD for OVF and EFV).

    Here's f/2.2 (yeah, sure, 2.2, that's cheating, right)...

    Still f/2...(yucky, huh?)

Yep, totally unusable. Crappy lens. Great review from real "experts".

Now that we know that f/2 is utterly unusable, please post your own examples of useless images taken at f/2...

Well, it's obvious that your lens @f2 does not properly render a standard colour spectrum. :p

Just goes to show the "old" saying "You can't always believe what you read on the Internet." is true!

I'm sure I have an f/2 somewhere in my catalogue of photos...but you all have proved how very wrong those pontificators can be.:2thumbs::tiphat:

Are those pictures SOOC jpegs? The fine details are amazing compared to what I was getting with the X-Trans sensor on the XP1 raw.

In my experience only macro is 'unsharp' to me at f/2. I understand that the lens is sharper at f/2.8, but f/2 looks great to me. It doesn't get hazy or dreamy at f/2 at non-macro distances, and overall IQ is great.

    F2 Halo effect
    F2.8 a lot better
    F4 F5.6 good working apertures
    F8 now macros look good
F11 really crisp landscapes from edge to edge
    F16 diffraction begins

The manual say not to use f2 in macro. The min is f4 based on the lens design and how the elements shift in macro, somthing like that. I am sure the OP knows this. I was just stating it for people who don't know. Great shots BTW.

Here is a cropped shot of my dog who decided to lay down in the middle of a video shoot.
