    Hi there X users.
I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to assign autofocus to a button other than the shutter release on my X-E1.
Doesn't look like there is, but thought I'd check with those more knowledgable to confirm.
I'd sure like to assign it to the AE-L button.

    thank you

Instant-AF with this button is always available in MF mode.

You can set that in the menu but it only works in 'M' mode (dial on camera front).

    Edit: cross post

Wow, that's much more responsive than relying on AF with the top AF/shutter release button. A lot of the times that top button just doesn't seem to quite connect for AF, requiring a second press.

I'm using it all the time like with my ex-Nikons. If there's not enough contrast for the AF or it has a bad day you're able to intervent manually and get that shot.
